Pakistan’s Senate passed a resolution marking 75 years of diplomatic ties with China, according to a media report. The motion was moved by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar. Senators said the relationship remained important for mutual benefit and socio-economic progress. The House also backed commemorations to reflect what it called an enduring partnership between the two countries.

The resolution pledged continued Senate support for the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor. It described the Pakistan-China relationship as fraternal and resilient through shifting global conditions. Senators said the bond was based on trust, respect, and shared aims. The text added that the partnership supported peace, stability, development, and prosperity for both nations.

Pakistan China diplomatic relations and the one-China principle

The Senate resolution reaffirmed Pakistan’s support for China on issues it called core interests. It reiterated the one-China principle and stated that Taiwan was part of China’s territory. It also said Pakistan supported China on Xinjiang, Xizang, Hong Kong and the South China Sea. The resolution thanked China for backing Pakistan’s sovereignty and security.

Senators also noted wider cooperation between the countries across several sectors. The resolution cited political, economic, strategic, educational, cultural and people-to-people links. It said these ties continued to deepen friendship. The House committed to commemorate the 75th anniversary in what it called a befitting and dignified manner, as a symbol of growing cooperation.

Pakistan China diplomatic relations highlighted during Chinese delegation visit

A Chinese delegation led by Vice Chairman of National Peoples Congress Cai Dafeng witnessed the Senate proceedings. Chairman Senate Yousaf Raza Gillani welcomed the delegation during the session. Gillani said the visit reflected "the warmth, trust, and enduring goodwill that define Pakistan-China relations.\" Gillani added the countries shared \"an ironclad friendship built on mutual respect, unwavering solidarity, and shared purpose.\"

Gillani also said, \"This time-tested cooperative relationship has only grown stronger with the passage of time and continues to inspire confidence in the peoples of both our countries.\" Gillani expressed hope that the delegation’s trip would expand parliamentary and strategic cooperation. The Senate session took place as Pakistan prepared activities linked to the 75-year milestone.

Pakistan China diplomatic relations and CPEC plans discussed by Ishaq Dar

Dar welcomed the delegation and said Pakistan and China shared a converging vision on regional and global matters. Dar said both countries aimed to uphold the purposes and principles of the UN Charter amid complex challenges. Dar stated, \"over the past seven and half decades, our relationship has grown from strength to strength into a robust economic and strategic partnership.\"

Dar said, \"China Pakistan Economic Corridor stands as the flagship project of the Belt and Road initiative and a shining example of our shared vision for regional connectivity and prosperity.\" Dar added the CPEC had helped transform Pakistan’s economic landscape. Dar said, \"We look forward to the next phase of CPEC 2.0 focusing on industrialization, agriculture, IT and socio-economic development,\" he said.

On a forthcoming China visit with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Dar said the programme included engagement with Chinese leaders and businesses. Dar said two mechanisms would also meet during the trip. Dar said one meeting would be the Pakistan China Political Forum. Dar said the second would be the CPEC joint consultative mechanism.

Dar said a large multiparty parliamentary delegation would attend many meetings. Dar said Pakistan wanted to work with China on long-term regional cooperation. Dar said Pakistan \"looks forward to working together with China for a shared future of peace, prosperity and progress in our region and beyond.\" The Senate resolution and visit together highlighted the focus on sustained bilateral engagement.
